Global narcotics trafficking has reached unprecedented levels, with cocaine production hitting record highs worldwide. As criminal syndicates employ increasingly sophisticated concealment techniques, ranging from chemical adsorbents to sealed compartments inside commercial shipping cargo, border control and customs agencies face an urgent challenge: how to detect illicit substances efficiently without slowing down global commerce.

Traditional inspection methods generally fall into two categories: bulk detection (such as X-ray or ionizing radiation scanners) and chemical sensing. While bulk scanners provide visual imagery, chemical sensing offers direct, targeted verification by detecting microscopic chemical particles and volatile organic compounds (VOCs).

How Vapour Screening Works in Cargo Logistics

Vapour screening operates on the scientific principle that all physical substances undergo evaporation, releasing trace airborne molecules even when heavily packaged. In maritime and freight logistics, where cargo containers remain sealed for weeks, these chemical vapours build up inside the container space over time.

The vapour analysis process consists of two primary stages:

  1. Air Sampling (3 Minutes): A specialized nozzle is inserted directly into the flexible rubber door gasket of a sealed shipping container. The sampling unit extracts an air sample from within the container and traps microscopic vapour particles on a collection card. The system automatically stops once a predetermined air volume is collected.

  2. Automated Analysis (2 Minutes): The sample card is inserted into an analyzer that compares the collected chemical signatures against an extensive spectral library. Within two minutes, the system evaluates molecule concentration levels and issues an automated ALARM or NO ALARM status.

Action & Impact Focused

  • Extreme Sensitivity: Detects chemical traces in parts per quadrillion (ppq)—up to 1M× more sensitive than sniffer dogs.

  • High Accuracy: Advanced selectivity filtering ensures a false alarm rate under 5%, even amidst heavy background odors.

  • Beats Concealment: Traces leaked through seals reveal hidden drugs, even inside welded compartments or food cargo.

  • Zero Delays: Complete, non-intrusive checks take under 5 minutes without opening or unloading containers.

As trade volumes grow, non-intrusive chemical sensing technology provides border authorities with the speed, precision, and reliability required to secure global supply chains. Through years of intensive research and engineering, we have perfected our advanced detection technology, and we are now fully ready to deliver market-ready products that intercept illicit cargo trafficking before it hits our ports.
